Face rotary couplings transmit torque through opposing face surfaces using magnetic force. This design allows particularly space-saving and low-vibration power transmission. Ideal for applications with limited installation space or in sensitive systems such as lab equipment, precision mechanics, and small drives.

Technical information

For disc couplings, two multi pole disc- or ringmagnet systems face each other. The torque depends on the dimensioning, the magnetic material, the number of poles and the air gap. It should also conduct electricity poorly, to avoid disturbing influences by eddy current at high speeds. With disc couplings high axial forces have to be taken into consideration. The startup speed should be selected in such a way that skipping of the magnetic poles is avoided. The torque is the same at all speeds.
