Plastoferrite / Plastoneodymium
Flexible bonded magnets made from ferrite or neodymium in a polymer matrix.
Plastoferrite magnets are made from hard ferrite powder (typically strontium ferrite) embedded in a plastic matrix, usually a thermoplastic. They are easy to process – cut, punched, extruded, or injection molded – and are especially cost-effective. While the magnetic strength is moderate, they offer good thermal and corrosion resistance and are well-suited for mass production.
Plastoneodymium magnets use NdFeB powder in a polymer binder to combine high magnetic performance with mechanical flexibility. These magnets provide significantly higher magnetic strength than plastoferrites and are ideal for precise, compact designs. However, they may require additional protection against humidity or elevated temperatures.
Both magnet types are available as sheets, strips, custom-molded parts, or injection-molded components. Typical applications include sensors, electric motors, encoder rings, promotional items, toys, automotive components, and consumer electronics.
